Depart the Caribbean and travel by dugout canoe to an indigenous BriBri community on the Costa Rica/Panama border

Explore the community and learn how to make chocolate by hand
- Spend the night in a traditional BriBri round house
Day 7, Dec 10

Travel by dugout canoe back down the river to our vehicles

Drive to the Guayabo Lodge, enjoying an amazing lunch with a spectacular view along the way

Check into the lodge, have a gourmet dinner, and relax for the evening
Day 8, Dec 11

A hot cup of local coffee and an early morning nature walk to a nearby waterfall before breakfast

Explore the Guayabo Monument, the oldest pre-columbian ruins in Costa Rica

Relax at the lodge or explore the private nature reserve next door for the afternoon
Day 9, Dec 12

Journey to the top of the Irazu Volcano, the tallest volcanic peak in Costa Rica (and is not currently erupting)

Travel to the Savegre Valley, where we will spend the last part of our trip
Day 10, Dec 13

Bird Watching Tour in search of the Resplendent Quetzal (and many other amazing birds)

Lunch at Mirriam's, which has the best trout ever and a world famous bird feeder out back

Visit the Batsu Garden to an up close look at some incredible hummingbirds
Day 11, Dec 14

Explore the Paramo, the highest peaks in Costa Rica, home to birds found nowhere else on earth and if the weather permits, a view of both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea

A quick stop at a local hummingbird hot spot

Lunch at Mirriam's

- Return to San Jose for the flight home
